AVTE President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement 

Laura Lien, MS, CVT, VTS (LAIM) was honored with the first AVTE President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement. Sponsored in 2025 by Rarebreed Veterinary Partners, Laura was recognized for her standout career from a student and practitioner, instructor and program director, author to Assistant Director in the Division of Education and Research at the AVMA.

"As a veterinary technician student, Laura served as an example to her fellow students by helping them work as a group of peers to learn the material in their didactic courses and master the hands-on skills in their laboratory sessions. Laura has a calm yet determined demeanor that helped her succeed as a returning student in a class of 80 students. As one of her instructors, I was impressed by how organized and methodical Laura was when she set a goal for herself."

" I completed many site visits with Laura during those years and she was always incredibly prepared and somehow maintained the histories of the various programs in her head with a remarkable memory.
