Every Symposium year there are 3 awards give out at the association’s luncheon meeting. It’s a great way to recognize our colleagues for all they do a vet tech educators. Here are the 3 awards along with their purpose:
1. AVTE/Elsevier Excellence in Teaching. Purpose of the Award = The Award for Teaching Excellence has been established to honor Veterinary Technology Educators who are recognized by their students and colleagues as being exceptional instructors.
2. AVTE Excellence in Team Teaching Award. Purpose of the Award = The AVTE supports veterinary technicians as integral members of the veterinary health care team. Teachers who model respectful and effective teamwork in their own professional lives assist their students in integrating this skill into their own work pattern. The AVTE therefore offers the Award for Excellence in Team Teaching to educators who have demonstrated exceptional strength in working collaboratively to generate creative learning opportunities for their students. The AVTE encourages team work in the educational process as well as in clinical environments.
3. AVTE/Wiley-Blackwell New Educator award. Purpose of the Award = The AVTE/Wiley-Blackwell Award has been established to honor new educators who are recognized by their students and colleagues as already making an extraordinary contribution to Veterinary Technology.

Nominations are open until May 15th. Email your nominations and other materials to Dr. Scott Keller at firstname.lastname@example.org by May 15th. The awards will be distributed at the Symposium.
